ONLINEFILM.org - subtitling tool
The subtitle tool of www.onlinefilm.org, developed together with our technology partner www.kulturserver.de is in BETA stage right now. The tool provides an easy way to create subtitles or descriptions in many languages for any film that has been uploaded into the www.onlinefilm.org system. The film does not need to be offered for sale to use the tool. The subtitle tool needs human translators with the appropriate skills, it is not machine translation based. The tool is completely browser based (flash with an attached mysql database). Anyone the filmmaker/owner allows to do so, can create the spotting and the subtitles in one or more languages while watching the film as flash preview in its original uploaded version.
Once the subtitles are done and approved, they can be exported in many of the classical subtitle formats for further use or used for the VOD and streaming to rent offers via www.onlinefilm.org. Subtitles or original textlists can also be imported and then the spotting can be finalized and used as a reference for other translations.
This tool is a work in progress. If you are interested, please write an email to wesnigk(at)onlinefilm.org and ask for an invite.
IF you want to know more about it please download and read our PDF reader here http://docs.culturebase.org/ml/2008_02-22_SHA_manual-cb-ml-onlinefilm.pdf
