How can I provide feedback on the webplex?
We welcome your comments and suggestions of ways to improve the webplex. You can either email feedback@docagora.org or submit it via our online form, which is a tab marked "Feedback" and located on the very left side of every page.
How do I add a resource?
Click on the "Add New Resource" link on the right of any page. Determine the category (see next question). Enter the name and click "Create element." Fill in any information you have. Click save.
What kind of resources should be added?
There are five categories of resources you can enter: event, funder, distributor, concept, and tool. If you click on "Add New Resource," you can see definitions of each type. Everything entered should be relevant to the docmedia community as a whole and fit within the proper category. If you're not sure, you can contact us via our feedback form.
Can I add information about my own documentary project?
The webplex does not provide the space for details of documentary projects. However, you can add your film to the profile of any distributor who distributed it. Once you do this, you'll be able to click on the link to your film within that distributor and fill in any details about your distribution deal. Any film information beyond distribution (i.e. synopsis, production stills, etc.) is outside the scope of the webplex.
Should I add a STRAND / PROGRAM that is on a broadcaster?"
You can create a separate entry for any unique strand a distributor my have. For example, there is an entry for Storyville, which is linked to the profile of BBC. You should then make sure that all the information supplied is specific to the strand, and not descriptive of the broader distributor, so that there is as little overlap as possible.
If I rate a distributor, will they be able to attribute my evaluation to me?
Ratings are anonymous but comments are public. Although the ratings you supply will be privately attributed to your profile, your username will not be displayed with the rating on the webplex. Any comments you make will have your username publicly assigned to them.
Can I eliminate or edit the comments I made on an entry?
Not now but we will develop this feature soon.
I disagree with the ratings/comments assigned to my listing. What can I do to change them?
Although we hope that all comments and ratings will be constructive, we would not expect them all to be positive. Having both positive and negative reviews gives credibility to the review system, so by principle, we will not typically allow anyone to alter or remove them. However, if you feel the system has been abused, please let us know via our feedback form.
Can I have my organization removed from the database?
If you have a problem with your entry, please contact us at feedback@docagora.org
Is all the information in the webplex up-to-date and accurate?
It is impossible for us to verify all the information in the webplex. However, we will do our best to keep it as up-to-date as possible. If you notice an error, you can let us know via email or, even better, log in and make the change yourself.
How do I report a bug?
Please use our feedback form accessible from the FEEDBACK link on the left side of any page.
What is DocAgora?
DocAgora is a group of committed individuals who have been researching, presenting, and instigating within the docmedia industry.
Who owns DocAgora?
The DocAgora association.
How is this website funded?
A small portion of funding comes from the OMDC (Ontario Media Development Corporation). In addition, it has been funded in part also by the significant time contribution of the members of DocAgora.
How will this webplex make money?
Making money is not part of the agenda. The website is a charitable creation, built to serve the docmedia community not to exploit it.
I have a question that is not on this list. What can I do?
Email us at feedback@docagora.org
Do I need an account to create or edit resources?
Yes, you can sign up on our website or login using your account on Facebook or Google.
What kinds of Events can I submit to the DocAgora WebPlex?
Although you can submit any event that would be of interest the docmedia community, we would appreciate if you would consider the relevance before posting. The webplex is designed to focus on major international events rather than local ones, which are only specific to a small community.
Can I submit my own film screening or social event?
Please do not, for the reason listed above.
What are sources?
Sources are links that point to the origin of the information provided in the listing. Right now, there can only be one source, but this will change soon.
What are references?
References are related articles and websites that provide more information about the resource. News articles and press releases are most useful, but you can link to anything that helps create a clearer picture of the entity. Please use your judgement as it is better to have a few highly relevant links than dozens of losely relevant ones.
